Amateur Boxer magazine – complimentary copy

Registered boxers and coaches will receive with this newsletter a copy of the Amateur Boxer magazine published by Joe Bridges in Adelaide. Normally priced at $5 a copy, this edition has been made available to you courtesy of Planet Max.

Punch equipment discount at Planet Max

Also enclosed with this newsletter is the latest Punch equipment catalogue. Any registered ACT boxer will receive a 10-20% discount off all Punch brand equipment purchased from Planet Max. You will need to identify yourself (eg athlete pass or drivers licence) to receive the discount.

Remaining Canberra tournament dates

The remaining tournament in Canberra this year will all be held at the Woden Tradies Club, corner Furzer and Launceston streets in Woden, commencing 6pm.

Dates: Sat 20th May, Sat 2nd September, and ACT Titles on Sat 11 November.

Please note the change of date for the ACT Titles (previously 28 Oct), subject to confirmation.

Nominations for Selections for Australian Championships

You are reminded that you must get your nomination to us by 30 April to be eligible for selection to the ACT Team for the Australian Championships in Darwin in July. The nomination form, and selection rules, are available from our website and can be faxed to us on 6101 9902 or posted to PO Box 366 Woden 2606.

Annual Elections

Following the annual elections and the subsequent meeting of the Board, your association’s officials are as follows:

President: Rob Barron; Vice-President: Carl Ruhen; Secretary: Julia Felton;
Treasurer: Tony Whelan; Board member: Gerard O’Mahony; Board member: Martin Bye.

There remain two vacancies on the Board – one ordinary Board member and one Assistant Secretary. Nominations are invited from members who would like to take part in the management of the association. Just send an expression of interest by email to admin@boxingact.org.au  or post a  note to PO Box 366 Woden 2606. The Board will fill vacancies by appointment at a coming meeting.

Commonwealth Games 2006

Congratulations to all of the team who represented Australia at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, including our local boxers Gerard O’Mahony and Steve Rudic.
