Selection policy for the 2004 Australian ChampionshipsThe winners at next year’s Australian Championships (Adelaide, in March) will go to Tonga in April for the Oceania Titles; the Oceania winners will then become the Olympic Team to Athens later in the year. Therefore, the selection process for sending ACT boxers to the 2004 Australian Championships is (in the case of senior males) potentially a selection for the Olympic Games, and must be conducted in a manner that meets the requirements of Boxing Australia and the Australian Olympic Committee. The full selection policy submitted to Boxing Australia for approval is available online at our website and is summarised overleaf. Coaches and boxers, if you require a copy of the full selection procedures posted to you, call and leave a message on our office number. Please ensure you read the full procedures carefully. There are no extenuating circumstances; if you fail to meet the selection requirements, you will be excluded. Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holders 2003The current AIS scholarship holders in residence are as follows: 51kg Mohamed Elomar (NSW); 60kg Bilal Dib (NSW); 64kg Todd Kidd (QLD) 69kg Daniel Geale (TAS) & Jarrod Fletcher (QLD); & 91kg Adam Forsyth (WA) Gerard O’Mahony wins ACTSPORT sports star of the monthThe ACTSPORT Club Sports Star awards for the month for May for male athletes went to Gerard O’Mahony from the Underground boxing club. This is the first time a boxer has won the Sports Star award, and reflects Gerard’s excellent performance at the Oceania Titles and the Commonwealath Games fundraiser event in Perth this May.
