Canberra Boxing Bulletin - Edition 32 - April 2003 ACT gets 4 medals at Australian Championships in Hobart Congratulations to the entire ACT team for the 2003 Australian Championships in Hobart (27-29 March). In only our second year of national competition, the team brought back 2 gold and 2 silver medals, with the women and the under-17 team members doing especially well. Despite the disappointment of two of our women not being able to get matches, and therefore being unable to box, the team delivered excellent results, as follows:
Senior Females: Kirsteen Maclean (57kg gold),
Narelle Hards (60kg silver) Claire Ghabrial (66kg) was unmatched, as was Karen O’Brien (70kg). The senior males all lost their first round bouts, but performed well and can be proud of their effort: Martin Bye (64kg), Ben Crossingham (60kg), Gerard O’Mahony (69kg), Jamie Ninness (81kg). Gerard’s bout was particularly close, with a 2 point score difference.
ACT Coach: Don Abnett; Team Manager: Marc Tawton.
Congratulations to all of the team members for their dedication and commitment, and for turning in a great performance in Hobart.
